Laboratory Requirements

Critical to understanding science concepts is the use of scientific inquiry to develop explanations of natural phenomena. Therefore, as a prerequisite for admission to all NYS Regents Examinations in the Living Environment or Physical Setting, students must have successfully completed 1200 minutes of laboratory experience with satisfactory reports on file, in addition to the required classroom instruction associated with earning a unit of credit.  Student labs must be kept on file for six months after the student takes the Regents Examination in the Sciences.

In our newly renovated, "state of the art" labs, Scanlan students can become the future scientists of this country.  They are trained to perform mathematical calculations, analyze data, and arrive at conclusions, using hands on experience. By following an organized approach to lab experiments, students are challenged to think and reason at a higher level.
