    Admissions Cycle Wrap-Up

With over 120,000 applications received, admission to Penn State was highly competitive for the summer/fall 2024 cycle, especially at the University Park campus. Over 60 percent of our admitted students applied by the November 1 Early Action deadline. Students who apply by the non-binding Early Action deadline are among the first to be considered for admission to their first-choice campus and receive admission decisions earlier in the cycle.

The Smeal College of Business was our most competitive college for admission this cycle, followed by the colleges of Engineering and Nursing. Other historically popular programs among applicants include the College of the Liberal Arts, Eberly College of Science, and the Division of Undergraduate Studies which facilitates an Undecided/Exploratory option for students who are exploring academic programs that align with their career goals.

    There's still time to accept!

Although the May 15 deadline has passed for students to accept admission offers to the University Park campus, students with admission offers to other Penn State campuses can accept their offers through the coming summer weeks. Housing may fill up on some campuses, so we encourage students to accept their offers as soon as possible if they want to secure campus housing. To accept their offers, students can log in to their MyPennState Portal or contact their campus of admission directly if they have any questions.

    Spend a Summer Day 2024

The biggest college open house event is happening this summer - all summer long! Spend a Summer Day is a University-wide open house, where students, families, and guests get to feel what it's like to be a Penn Stater at any of our twenty undergraduate campuses across Pennsylvania. They'll tour campuses, learn about majors, meet students and faculty, and get sneak-peeks inside campus facilities like residence halls and academic colleges! Students can register on the Spend a Summer Day website. As part of the event, Penn State Admissions Strategic Partnerships will host a diversity-focused bus trip to the University Park campus that includes multicultural programs and complimentary accommodations in a student residence hall.

    New Student Orientation

As our first-year students prepare for their transition to Penn State, they will need to complete some onboarding tasks and then attend New Student Orientation (NSO). The onboarding tasks must be completed before they can reserve their NSO. If your students have any questions about this process, they can reach out to the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs. To prepare for the move to campus, students can check out Penn State Arrival.

    Submit Final Official Transcripts

As students begin to matriculate, they will need to ensure that Penn State receives all final official high school transcripts showing the diploma award date. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly to Penn State from the high school via mail, fax, or electronic delivery. Students without a final official high school transcript on file by the fall term will receive a hold on their account and cannot register for spring term classes until transcripts are received.

    Creating Access and Opportunity

Newly admitted Penn Staters from Pennsylvania and surrounding areas celebrated their high school achievements during the Achievers event, hosted by Penn State Admissions Strategic Partnerships. Students took a bus ride to the University Park campus where they enjoyed an honorary banquet, learned about Penn State scholarships and multicultural student organizations, met current Penn Staters, and stayed overnight at The Penn Stater Hotel. The Achievers event recognizes historically underrepresented high-achieving students admitted to Penn State. Over 160 "Achievers" attended the event this spring.
