Policies and Procedures

Physical Education 9,10,11,12

All Students should participate and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
 

Attendance

  • Students are required to be present for all Physical Education classes.
  • Classes begin 5 minutes after the second bell, to sound the beginning of the period.  Students should be dressed in proper Phys. Ed. uniforms and sitting in their spots on the floor waiting for attendance.
  • If a student has three or more absences in a quarter, student will receive a failing grade (9 & 10). 
  • If a student has two or more absences in a quarter, student will receive a failing grade (11 & 12).

Uniforms

  • ALL students are required to change into the Monsignor Scanlan High School Phys. Ed. uniform.   The uniform the student may purchase in the book store is as follows:
    • Msgr. Scanlan shorts
    • Msgr. Scanlan sweat pants
    • Msgr. Scanlan t-shirt  grey or blue
    • Msgr. Scanlan sweat shirt
  • All students must wear sneakers at all times. No BOOTS or ACG. Sneakers must have laces and be tied at all times.
  • If student is unprepared during a quarter, student must make up the class or classes at an appointed time.
  • Failure to make up the class or classes will result in failing for the quarter.

Medical

  • If a student is excused from class for more than a week, student will be assigned a study.
  • If a student is sick and in school, student must have a note from either a parent/guardian or the school nurse, to excuse them from class that day.  Failure to have a note will result in a failure for the day.

General Announcements

  • Students should eat breakfast every morning so they have energy for the day.
  • Students should practice good hygiene: taking showers, washing the Phys. Ed. uniform regularly.
  • No food or drink during class.  Vending machines can be used at the end of the period.
  • No Jewelry (rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces and body piercings) are to be worn during class.  Jewelry must be locked in a locker.  All locks must be removed at the end of each class.
  • For abbreviated schedule days, all students must bring their full uniform, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.

Class Routine

  • Classes will meet in the Gallagher Gym unless otherwise posted
  • Students have 5 minutes to change
  • Attendance is recorded
  • Warm-ups
  • Equipment distribution
  • Skill instruction
  • Participation
  • Equipment collection
  • Students have 7 minutes to change at the end of the period
