FINAL EXAMS
All students must be present for semester examinations. It is school policy not to provide for make-up tests. Should illness prevent a student from being present for a final semester examination, a doctor's note must be presented to the Assistant Principal before the end of the Exam Week, and 5 points will be deducted from the student's quarterly mark. A zero for the semester examination will be recorded if this procedure is not followed. If a student is found to be cheating on a Mid-Term, Final Exam or any State Regents Exam, the student will forfeit his/her right to complete the exam and receive an automatic zero for the exam.
A student who is enrolled in a Regents Course must complete the required Regents exam in order to receive full credit for the course.
Academic policy concerning failures is as follows:
- Any student who fails three units (required or elective, academic or other subjects) in any school year is ordinarily dismissed from Scanlan and must transfer to another school.
- Any student who fails a course must make this course up in Msgr. Scanlan's summer school. The requirement to attend summer school will not be withdrawn due to summer employment or family vacation plans.
- Subjects may not be repeated in Scanlan High School during the academic year.
All students must complete a total of 50 community service hours to receive a Monsignor Scanlan High School Dipolma. Please see the Spiritual Life Section for more information.
